Why do some people think carseats are optional?
Why do SO many people think that car seats are not necessary? In my part of town it seems like almost NO ONE straps their child or children in as they should. Yesterday I saw a woman with two car seats in the back of her car and there were children sitting in both of them. However, neither child was strapped in to the seats. At the red light they both stood up to lean into the front seat to talk to their mother, who was already on the phone. Then today in a drive through I saw a woman vigorously cleaning her dashboard with a dust cloth and her Camry was in fact impeccably clean but her small son was standing in the backseat looking back at me and waving! I was not amused. She did in fact drive out of the drive thru with him still in the back window. These people are usually the ones on the news grieving the loss of their small child from being ejected from a car window during a car accident. This angers me to no end. Why not protect your child as best you can, people should not trust that their own driving will keep their child safe. Its other drivers that they need to be worrying about.
Waterproof play yard fitted sheets??? Why does no one make them?
I went to register for my third (and final) baby shower yesterday and as long as I have been going to Babies R Us I have been looking for waterproof play yard fitted sheets. I soon found out that although they do make pads you can put down in the play yard, they do not make fitted waterproof sheets for the play yard. I found this very strange considering babies spend a lot of time in their play yards. Both my kids napped in their play yards as well as played. They also slept in them when staying at a family members house. Any diaper over flow or spilled milk was soaked into the pad and in a few days it was stinking up the whole playpen. I tried surface cleaning the pad but it was pointless. I have bought several Carters fitted sheets but even though they are pretty and do fit well, they do not protect the pad. This time around I actually registered for a new playpen, a Chicco, with a washable pad. I have never had a Chicco playpen but I am hopeful it will be exactly what I am looking for.

Is it wrong to want my kids to go to a multi-racial school?
The schools in my area are predominantly Hispanic. Now, I grew up in this area but I want my kids to go to a school where they get to experience all races and therefore get to learn about different cultures as well. So I am faced with having to drive across town and pay for schooling in order to make this possible. But some people say I am wrong for wanting this.
